Sleep and Healthcare Workers

Healthcare professionals are among the most sleep-deprived workers globally, with shift patterns disrupting circadian rhythms.

Studies show that nurses working night shifts experience a 40% reduction in cognitive performance after 12-hour rotations.

Hospital administrators have proposed mandatory rest periods between consecutive shifts, though implementation remains inconsistent across institutions.

Fatigue-related errors account for an estimated 20% of adverse clinical events, prompting renewed calls for systemic reform.
